ANOKA, Minn. -- ATK (NYSE: ATK) announced that it is being awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement from the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (DHS, ICE) for .40 caliber ammunition. This contract features a base of 12 months, includes four option years, and will have a maximum volume of 450 million rounds.
I wonder - since we are paying for it, can we have some???

No, if everything went well, there would not be any rounds left to sell off. At least not enough to matter at any rate.
I'm not implying the ammunition is not needed, I'm just hoping the actual quantity bought is not too high. However, that is a maximum purchase number. I'm guessing the total baought will be far less.

Most of these rounds (probably was less than 450 million) will go for practice which is as it should be. Government buying is so cumbersome that this contract was probably for the most round DHS would need forever.

I am sure they are planning on securing our borders.

I am sure this is what they go through in a year! THink about it they have like 237K employees, if even 1/3 of those carry a gun that is a lot of ammo every year!
