RIP Brother.
"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
- Sir Winston Churchill
No idea who actually wrote this, but it sure is a powerful piece:
I hope his killer gets a swift, speedy, scrupulously fair trial, followed by a nice lethal injection.
"A Part of America Died"
Somebody killed a Policeman today and
A part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids'
And spend many long, lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yep, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side
He answered the call, of himself gave his all
And a part of America died.

Battle Plan (n) - a list of things that aren't going to happen if you are attacked.
Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.
That is sad and on top of a tragic death - "...leaves behind his wife, Amy, and his 8-month-old son, Eric." It breaks your heart.
I noted this line with disgust from the article:
So since the criminal justice system let this lowlife scumbag (rest of comments redacted, if I said what I truly thought of the killer, I'd get banned) back out into society, Officer Schroder lost his life.He has an extensive criminal history involving weapons and assault, officials said.
His family has to go on without him.
And once again, strong, brave men and women will line up and weep quietly to the sound of Amazing Grace on the bagpipes.
(God, how I hate the sound of Amazing Grace on the bagpipes. I used to tell the piper in the honor guard in our department that I would come back and a squirrel and run up the kilt....)
Sincere condolences to his family and department.
What a senseless waste.

Damn - just damn! What a tragic waste and heartfelt condolences to his family.
This is not the first time body armor's weak spot led to a death. A very sad quirk of fate.
Matt - thx for posting those powerful prose words.

+1
It is unfortunate he didnt receive a lead injection, but I guess potassium chlorate will do the same.
Rest in Peace Officer, your detail is ready in Heaven.
Fear No Evil.
Looks like a LEO friend of mine from back in VA. Wow. Completely tragic. Does anyone know if they still hang people in OH?

I am very tired of BG's with these long lists of convictions...and they can still be on the streets. "Liberal Judges"![]()
I hope his family can stay strong!

Rest in peace, Officer Schroeder. Prayers for comfort and strength for his family and friends who are left behind.
Hope for swift justice for his murderer.
We do have the death penalty in Ohio. Living here in Cleveland and having grown up not far from where this happened it really hits home. Crime is on the rise. Cleveland was just voted one of the poorest cities in the country.
RIP....God bless those you left behind.
