If the DOD is missing hardware they should check with Mexico. Sorry, could not help myself.
That sucks. My old department got patrol rifles through them. They got 200 M16A1s that way. Our armorers then had to convert them to semi auto only and then send the full auto parts back.
My local PD got a few (10-20) automatic (I'm pretty sure I remember them being automatic) rifles through this program. They are deployed to patrol officers as part of their daily carry. A couple of officers I know carry their rifles loaded, in a hard case kept in the locked trunk of their patrol cars. Don't know how long my local PD has had the rifles or if they have ever been put into use on our local streets. If my memory serves me well, they are M1A16's.
