These pictures get me every time, I don't care how many times I look at them. Another one that always tears me up is the one attached.

This one is personal to me. This is the flag being given to the parents of a good friend of mine, Brian Craig (KIA 15 Apr 02 - Enduring Freedom) who was in EOD.

Photos like these really hit home. This set of two pictures really tore me up for a little while. Being AD and having seen similar events in my16 years in just made this hit 'home'.

This one gets me, a National Guard Soldier and his daughter in formation, his daughter wouldn't let go of his hand.

A real man loves his wife, and places his family as the most important thing in life. Nothing has brought me more peace and content in life than simply being a good husband and father.

Those are very powerful pictures. Brought tears to my eyes. I'm not a military man myself but my grandfather served in WWW2, my father in Vietnam, and my brother is a Major in the National Gaurd in Utah. We just buried my grandfather two weeks ago. He lived to almost 95. I was a paul bearer and helped to carry his flag draped coffin to his burial spot. I stood there with 7 other members of my family holding the flag over his coffin while he recieved his 21 shot solute. I consider that one of my greatest experiences.

Very moving pictures. Remind me of a couple great quotes in my past.

"Whether appreciated or not, there is a great sense of pride that comes from the idea of dying for your country."

Quoted from my team leader after our second mission outside the wire. He was killed eight days later.

"The way our countries youth is going now is ****ing gross. No respect for other people or their elders or veterans. I swear my daughter won't be that self-centered. She'll listen eagerly like I did when an elders speaks to her, and appreciate the sacrifices a veteran has made for her."

Quoted from a buddy of mine a week after finding out he was a father of a healthy baby girl. We were watching some sort of war protest on the news. We all agreed and poked fun at him, something about a "Worlds Greatest Dad" coffee mug. He died in Baghdad, Iraq seven months later. His daughter will know first hand the sacrafices of a veteran.

The exact wording may have been a bit different, these are as close to the original ones as i can remember them. Rest now Brothers, and know yours was not in vein.
"Only the dead have seen the end of war."

"And when he gets to heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell. One more Soldier reporting sir, I've served my time in hell."

Very moving. If you can look at those photos and not feel anything you are not human. Thank you to all military and their families. They know the ultimate sacrifice.
