I'm not a vet. Please translate. Is this a reference to parade dress blues or such?
Americans understood the right of self-preservation as permitting a citizen to repel force by force

We need to keep in mind that the U.S. military capability is simply an extension of citizen/civilian political will.

In other words, as combatants have found to their dismay for centuries, the hearts and minds of a people are tricky things, and the belief that they can be won over solely via a clop upside the head is shaky at best.
Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.

Explain: How does disarming victims reduce the number of victims?

Spirit of '76 remains in the core, but there is dillution in the masses. Maybe WWII was unnecessary. Tell that to the millions of Americans who challenged Hitler, Tojo, and Mussolini just for their bluster and arrogance at declaring themselves masters of the world, and, by the way, you're next. Fortress America as long as we have influence of "peace, commerce, and honest friendship" and a responsive miliatary fit for duty in any environment or theater assymetric or global nuclear.
Go time may be subjective, but world power comes subtly in distant places nowhere near the headlines of the day. The beautiful olympic games notwithstanding, last time I checked, there's only one superpower. Winners don't apologize.
