Wow, I didn't know you could get an Abrams stuck.
Although I would love one for my commute to work

Thanks, as an old Sailor, armor always fascinated me and these video's provided a couple of chuckles and good memories of the comraderie of the service. Like you I dearly miss my ships and the sea.

"No NCO would put his tank in a hole like that."
Hahahha, isn't that the complete truth. :) Sucks for the privates that ended up PM'ing it, but fecal matter does roll downhill.
Great! All I can say is "TANKS" a lot for posting.![]()

Hey! I resemble that remark! nyuck nyuck nyuck I used to be a screwy louie once upon a time. LT which stands for Looney Tunes.
If you think it's hard to get one stuck, imagine getting one clear off the ground. I got mine airborne on a TCPC (Tank Crew Proficiency Course) and the instructors said you could see air all under the treads. My gunner didn't appreciate the stunt. He had his eyes pressed to the sight and when we hit ummmm he sorta got his glasses stapled to the bridge of his nose. He had blood running down each side of his nose. Sorry about that.....major. It didn't help that I was but a mere captain transitioning from Infantry to Armor.....![]()

Great vids Robb - I too could not envisage one stuck so badly in a hole. Oh my - all that water damage inside too - must have wrecked electronics!
cagueits - thx for those other links too - am just downloading the first one.

You can get anything stuck. Tanks are a lot heavier (and slower. HA HA) than Amphibious Vehicles but one time we were training at Lejune and got 4 traks stuck in line with each other. It took all day for a recovery vehicle to get them out. I wasn't there for the gettin out part, but I think the recovery vehicle was something like the one in that other video.
Anyway, that day I learned that while an amphibious vehicle is great on land or water, if you have a mixture of those two elements in the right proportion you could be in big trouble.
When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts & minds will follow. Semper Fi.
No wanting to hijack the thread But I just watched the Marine Video.
I served under Gen Gray. He was one hell of a man. He addressed 20,000 of us at Lejune the day before we shipped out, I actually met him in Saudi Arabia and he stopped and chatted with me and asked me how I was doing. I was a lowly Lcpl then but he wanted to know how my morale was.
I also had a buddy who was a cook, and just like the video said, when the time came to make the breach into Kuwait, his Co told him to get his gear. My buddy said, "but sir, I'm a cook" and the CO said "every Marine is a rilfeman first, get your gear and let's go" That cook ended up running through a minefield under fire. Ooh Rah!

My company commander actually got his stuck WORSE than that during an operation in Iraq. It was stuck in a little creek behind a village, tipped almost on it's side, with one side of the turret below ground level... I jumped from the edge of the creek DOWN onto the top of the turret .
Best part was that this little "creek" was where the villiage dumped the "night soil" from their chamber pots every morning for the past ten thousand years.
