Law Enforcement 'walk-though' of a School.

Have first hand knowledge of local Law Enforcement 'walk-through' of public school today. The purpose was for first responders to be fully familiar with school layout and event strategies.
Something positive is quietly happening out here.

That's a start.

A better one would be to let the teachers that have permits carry. There are there when the shooting starts.

They know the school,they know the kids,and they could protect them with deadly force if need be.

The walk-through is a positive, but hopefully they will say "But you know, it will take several minutes at least for us to get here. Let's look at some ways the people who are already here can end the situation before we arrive."

They just now are walking through a school? Every school district my son has lived in has had LE go through the school and coordinate a plan. (My son was always in private schools but wife was a school nurse in the public school system)

We've been doing walk through a for years. I try to do so at least once a week (doesn't always happen) for each of our schools.
People are just now noticing.

As a Paramedic, the only time I walk through our schools is when they call because little Johnny needs to go to the ED.

Now think about this, both as a responder AND as a parent that might be on scene prior to LE but outside the building:

All the doors are locked. Miss Grayhair in the office is NOT going to buzz you in unless you look like an LEO, or she's dead. How are you going to access the building to rescue/engage short of waiting for the LEOs to invite you in?

While we don't know the details... The Sandy Hook shooter shot (or otherwise forced) his way in.. Of course, if there had been a few armed behind the door when he got in.... Game over.
