    This might be interesting..
I am NOT an LEO, but I believe, if by seeing how the LEO's present here @ DC post, and the vibe I get from them, I think, unless there is something sinister afoot and they have all been programed by a higher power, I think they are most assuredly on our side.

I hold a belief somewhere deep down inside of me, that wants to think someplace, deep withing the bowels of the Pentagon, their is a group of courageous individuals who, by their patriotic aspirations toward this country and all the ideals that are held dear, will not allow something as evil as this to take place, for they know what would follow.

FWIW, this is but the ramblings of an old fool.

Not a LEO, but I would think it would depend on where the LEOs are. CA, NY, NJ, I would say, yes the LEOs would confiscate. TX, WY, OK etc.. nope to confiscation. I think it will be as regional based on beliefs.

Most of the LEO I know and I know several have flat said a government order to confiscate guns in general is a no go and likely result in their resignation from the dept. I tend to believe them.
A few of the newer ones Im not so sure about though.

I seriously doubt that there is going to be any law requiring officers to go door to door to confiscate. Some
possession laws might get passed, and then if you have an encounter such as at a traffic stop, they will be enforced; same
as the knife laws or the MJ laws.

It is remotely possible that some confiscatory law might get passed, but you would give the prohibited item up or risk
some charge down the road when you get caught.

Do any of our history buffs know how they handled things when ownership of gold was made illegal during the 1930s?
I assume most folks just turned it in for money to comply with the law, but I've never read any history describing how that
    was actually implemented or enforced.

    Retired now...

My Opinion... NO. Police do not always do what they are told to do. Police Officers do not have to obey an illegal order.

Inevitably, such an order would come with (at minimum) a penalty for failure to follow orders. Dismissal could be a strong motivation in an ugly economy, when it comes to feeding one's family.

I pray that they would have more sense than to obey such a disgusting order as that. They would be better off quiting their jobs or going to prison by refusing, such non-sense. That would go for anyone in military too.

Far too often, ideals go out the window when the paycheck does.....I wouldn't trust my neighbors on this issue...a few of them are LE. Whose going to pay to feed their families and pay the mortgage when they take an open stand for the Constitution and against their employers? LE are just men. I would think that love of family trumps the rights of others....Just me....The best we could hope for is a "casual attitude" toward enforcement.....Sandpiper

Our local Sheriff has said flat out that NONE of his officers will ever confiscate a American citizen's firearms... assault weapons or otherwise.

So that's how it would be done at first. Random road blocks. License checks. "Probable cause" to search vehicles of those with permits.

    Where there's a will theres a way.
