Like they say, never let a good crisis go to waste, let's get some more votes for the Dems.

If it's as stated, that "the focus" remains on violent threats, then they're going to be keeping those types under lock and key, and those won't be the ones released. Though, the article doesn't specify what the method of selection is, beyond that.

We can only hope they don't have their heads completely wedged, on that concept.

As for transferring hundreds to a more cost-effective form of detainment, I'm all for it, so long as it's appropriate in each case and doesn't threaten the safety of us all.

They have been "placed on an appropriate, more cost-effective form of supervised release," she said.

Now I wonder what this could mean?

    A. Halfway House
    B. Report to DHS regularly
    C. Ankle Bracelet
    D. Get out there and have a crime spree, you're already 'illegal' anyway...just don't bother us.

Is it not a threat to our safety for these unlicensed and uninsured criminals out cruising the streets?

Depends on their violence potential, on a case by case basis.

I'm just as concerned about local/county jails releasing mass numbers based on lack of bed space and funding, via drastically reducing the threshold for release. Oregon has done this for years, now, and it has simply resulted in many someone-to-fairly violent types getting out. Without clear criteria and an absolute minimum, and without knowing each and every case specifically, wholesale release gets us to just the sort of threatening situation you describe. But it depends on each case.

Maybe we should give them a little bit of military training and send them back home and tell them we will notify them of their court date.

    Quick course in military training,

1.pack as many as possible into a C-5 Galaxy
2.as soon as airborne and over their homeland notify them that the parachutes are in the overhead netting.
    3.open rear door and climb.
    4return and repeat as needed.

    only wishful thinking I know.

Ah, wait till we find out how they handle budget shortfalls at SuperMax.
If the Union is once severed, the line of separation will grow wider and wider, and the controversies which are now debated and settled in the halls of legislation will then be tried in fields of battle and determined by the sword.

It's only February. Does anyone really think we will still be a country at the end of these four years?
