Yeah, I remember that. I was in Guam, we had a big party, and the next day the Buffs took off as usual to dump bombs all over Laos and Cambodia. Well, they had to get rid of all those bombs somewhere.

I didn't get home (to stay) until Oct '73, thanks to that little conflict in the middle east.

Some shots when the Memorial Wall was in Fayetteville. The people traveling with the wall have a set of books with every name and can tell where anyone is on the Wall. The names start at the right with the first KIA and continue chronologically to the last KIA.

Forgot to mention, each flag in the middle represents a KIA from the Fort Bragg area.

I can't believe it's been 40 years. That wall is beautiful in a poignant way. If you ever have been to the Wall in Washington it's a very emotional experience. It's not unusual to see men standing in front of it, sobbing. The atmosphere is charged and there is a hush all around it. No one raises their voices, it's very quiet, like a church.

    Thanks for posting those pictures.

Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

The Wall came to my area about 10 1/2 years ago. It was a moving experience for me.

Heart felt thanks to all my brothers in arms who went before me.

Everyday I wore that uniform I was aware of the sacrifices made that gave me the opportunity to serve.
    I salute you all.

I was an engineer on a troopship pulling ROK soldiers out of Viet Nam when the Paris Peace Treaty was signed. I knew it was BS back then and now here we are 40 years and 2 months later.

My father was there twice as an adviser and my brother was a door-gunner (Air Cav) in the Mekong Delta. I figure my family has paid enough. Just want to say God Bless to the servicemen and women that suffered so much over there and after coming back.

ETA - I've been to the Viet Nam Memorial in Washington DC a couple times and seen the Moving Wall in San Francisco and Yountville, CA Veterans Hospital. Met some of my brothers fellow VA group members and other veterans. Saw Country Joe McDonald speak and got to talk to him. It was quite a moving experience. I recommend seeing The Wall if you get the chance.
