LEO gets shot with his cruiser's AR 15

Leaving a female perp unsecured in the back seat, she broke though the plastic divider took the AR from the rack and shot out a window in attempt to escape... says she didn't see the officer outside the window.. just tried to break out the glass.

So he was interviewing the arresting officer, she is in the back seat unrestrained and neither one of them sees her breaking the barrier or grabbing the AR? Great SA on their part.

He is one lucky puppy he didn't get hit. And she's lucky he didn't hit her from in front of the car.

You really can't fix stupid, can you? I am actually starting to believe it.

I am not a leo so I don't know about their procedures. But I do wonder some things. 1) why would you un-handcuff someone you just arrested? Especially someone you just arrested for fleeing the police? 2) a loaded ar15 in the passanger seat? Shouldn't be secured in some way? 3) plastic? That's what the divider is made of? I woulda figred bullet proof glass or acrylic.

Sounds like a Barney Fife operation from the word "go." Cop is lucky he was just shot at vs actually shot.

My question is how large was the magazine in the AR? It must have been a low capacity magazine, or else there's no chance he would have lived.

I'm sure the magazine couldn't have had more than 7 rounds in it.

I'd be wondering about the viability of the "barriers," if that was so easy to do. I'd think that they are supposed to be barriers, not minor impediments.

Used to live in Michigan and often went to the casinos on the reservations. Have seen enough to assume they don't have the same standards as other PDs when it comes to the quality of officer they hire.

    Barney Fife is about right......
