    You want effective gun control laws? How about using the one's we already have?
    This dirtbag was already a felon, and now had a gun...in direct violation of a law he just ignored...he should NEVER see the light of day again.
    Should have been in prison for a loooooong time instead of being let out anyway...he went right back to crime.
    That would make the world safer for "the children."

    Seriously though I knew of a similar type of situation that happened in a department I was with. It involved a 22cal. Marlin rifle. It hadn't been cleaned in so long it wouldn't cycle properly, that is the only reason the BG couldn't fire.
