    A great one indeed and may he rest in peace.

    Unfortunately, I lost his autobiography in a move a few years ago. I guess now is a good time to head over to Amazon and replace and reread it.

    WW II, Korea, Vietnam.....a long and honored career. R.I.P. brave one.

    Something tells me he ruffled to big feathers during his career, to be passed over for a star with the MOH on his record.

    God Bless him and keep him. Rest in peace Col. Day. Thank you for your service.

    I sometimes think they don't make men like him any more...but they do. He's an inspiration to good people everywhere.

    From article;

    "As awful as it sounds, no one could say we did not do well. (Being a POW) was a major issue in my life and one that I am extremely proud of. I was just living day to day," he said in a 2008 interview with The Associated Press. "One really bad cold and I would have been dead."

    Yeah I don't know what I'm going to do when my grandfather's time comes. When I was a young kid and found some of his medals and asked what they were for he tried his best to keep from giving too many details. As I got older and prodded more(and he got a wee bit tipsy out fishing once) he began to open up about some of those medals. The things he has seen and done just astounded me that he even survived.

    He's been one of the biggest influences in my life. The more of these old timers we lose, we lose some of ourselves. Hopefully as a society we all learn what we can from them and not let their sacrifices be in vain.
