Maricopa County Deputies now required to carry carbines 24/7

We had an MCSO corrections officer murdered in his driveway this morning, and it seems wearing the uniform is fly paper for bad guys. Sheriff Joe has gone a step past merely enabling his deputies to carry patrol carbines, now he's requiring it. I'm not LEO but I sure can't find a major problem with this.

I don't think it was specifically prohibited, but now it is specifically enabled and required.

I live in Maricopa county. There's things I like about Sheriff Joe, and things I don't like about him. I will say this however, as soon as I can afford it, I'm going for a Class III firearm because the one thing Sheriff Joe does not do, is confuse law-abiding citizens with criminals.

May they all be very safe, armed and alarmed, in the execution of thier constitutional duties as Deputies! Works for me also.

Good deal, though it should have been implemented long ago.

Part of PPKheat's long-term personal philosophy:

A-If you wear a leo/security uniform, you also wear a gun.
B-If you have a patrol car, it will contain at least one long gun, easily accessible.

It's a large understatement to say that it angers me that these LEO's are put in a position by our federal government (overriding attempts by their own state to protect them) that puts them on the defensive.

Bad guys are supposed to be on the lam, not on the hunt. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you?

Out of respect for forum rules, I'll stop there.

Eventually our "leaders" will be forced to concede that sympathy, treatment and rehabilitation are ineffective at combating violent crime, while good shooting and harsh punishments ARE effective.

The only question is how many more innocent people have to die before it happens.

    RIP CO.

Yeah they should be carrying rifles 24/7. Too bad it took this to come to that conclusion.

Too bad it takes something like this tragedy to do something that should have been done long ago.
