Yeah...just heard that. Worked a contract NAVSEA gig once a upon a time in a galaxy far far away. Too bad they're all defenseless and can't return fire. Stay safe and keep your heads down folks.

Terrible news. I'm watching the live coverage on FOX right now. Praying that the causalities are limited to wounded but it doesn't sound as if it's playing out that way.

This has to be a hoax! No one's allowed to carry in D.C. and there aren't any guns allowed on Navy property.

Another maniac taking advantage of one of the most stricted gun free areas in the U.S.

Sad situation for the injuries/losses, plus "political" situation as it creates fodder for the mostly anti-gun media.

horrible news. i work on a navy base in virginia and they just bumped the FPCON to bravo. i just had a conversation where about 20 of us said that if there were people on base with CHP's this may have gone differently. i absolutely hate that we aren't allowed to bring firearms on base. most base police are just not prepared for this kind of thing.

It will be called work place violence not terrorism.

Thanks to the idiot libs who ensure the victims were unarmed.

Live video here, now reporting 12 shot but no report of extent of injuries.

Listening to this go down on the radio this morning.....

One of my pet peeves is when so called professionals, in this case the news reporters, mistakenly give out the location of the Navy Yard as South West Washington.

This would come as a surprise to all of the residents and business located adjacent to the Navy Yard who are all in South East Washington.

Why is it a big deal? D.C. is divided into four quadrants (NW, NE, SW & SE) in which that nomenclature must be included in the address. The dividing lines for the quadrants are centered on the Capitol Building, with North and South Capitol Streets marking the east-west designation and East Capitol Street and the National Mall marking the north - south divide.

Since the numbered and alphabet streets are in all four quadrants, if you sent a piece of mail or tried to find an address for 550 7th Street SE and you sent a letter or went to 550 7th Street SW you would be 10 blocks in the wrong direction.

Lot of Federal buildings in SW, FAA, HUD, etc... but the Navy Yard is not among them.

That is a bit intellectually dishonest, people have not been able to carry on military bases for a long time. I never liked the rules, but it has been the rules for a very long time.
