MILLER: D.C. businessman faces two years in jail for unregistered ammunition, brass casing - Washington Times

Mark Witaschek, a successful financial adviser with no criminal record, is facing two years in prison for possession of unregistered ammunition after D.C. police raided his house looking for guns. Mr. Witaschek has never had a firearm in the city, but he is being prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The trial starts on Nov. 4.

Ridiculous laws to be enforced only against those not in favor.

This is not a police state, it's far worse. At least a police state generally has more equal application of laws, draconian as they may be. This is application of laws if they suit the local powers desires. If you're Dianne Feinstein or David Gregory, (ie agree with the ruling local powers), you can break the laws with complete immunity. If you're on the wrong side of the ruling powers, the strictest view of the law is used against you. It's not just DC where this is happening either. In my state, the areas that are liberal dominated, unequal application of and/or protection under the law does not exist. If you're with the ruling party, you can issue specific death threats, stalking, disorderly conduct, vote multiple times, cut clearly corrupt government contracts, and drunk driving, the DA(s) will not bring charges. It's so bad in one county, I believe a liberal would get away with murder so long as the victim was conservative. This is truly scary and will be a flash point for civil war or violent insurrection.

Sooner or later I believe alot of people are going to get fed up with the way we are treated as subjects rather than citizens and all hell is going to break loose.

Search based on allegations of an estranged wife. Sad, tearing the family apart.

Also sad is that crap like this goes on in DC. Maybe this will test the constitutionality of DC's restrictive gun laws, but I hope for the defendant's sake he's found not guilty.

Little by little, folks, we lose our freedoms. State by state...

The phrase "cruel and unusual punishment" comes to mind. Seems to me I recall that being unconstitutional. If only the "robes" would be as heavy-handed in support of the word and intent of the Constitution as they've sworn to be, in their defense and protection of it. But then, liberty doesn't have the same ring to it as "crime reduction" ... even if that means jailing upstanding people to achieve it.

Gotta love illusions, leastwise 'til they come back to bite you in the hind quarters. As they invariably do. May the all-infringements-allowed mentality in the courts die a sweet and timely death. Sooner rather than later, else more of this sort of crap will occur.

Yeah. Why don't we do that.

Of course, that'd be the obvious thing to do IF crime reduction were actually the goal. But it's not, in such liberty-hating communities. It's not. The sooner the upstanding citizenry gets a clue on this, the better we'll all be. In the meantime, the real criminals are laughing in their sleeves at the stupidity (and opportunity) of it all, and us. Self-inflicted stupidity and lunacy is what it is, having zero to do with actually reducing violent crime.
