Met Lt Col Dave Grossman today

He gave a 4-hr seminar at my base today...man! He's a very engaging speaker! I had a couple of books autographed and took a pic with him. I also captured some video. He talks about the 98% that don't have a propensity for violence (sheep), 1% who are psychopaths (wolves), and the 1% who have a propensity for violence, but love the sheep (sheepdogs). I know this has been covered before, but it's another thing to see it explained live. It's about 3 mins long.

I have attended his eight-hour "Bulletproof Mind" seminar, and also have it on CD. Eye-opening stuff.

Col. Dave is a true scholar, gentleman, and warrior. I am glad that you had the opportunity to meet him and sit for one of his classes.

I was lucky enough to attend his 2 day seminar last Summer. He's a great public speaker and what he said made lots of sense. I also bought his 8 hour seminar on DVDs via USCCA and it tracks his seminar very nicely.

I would like to meet him and spend a few minutes speaking with him. I like most of his books ("Stop teaching our kids to kill" was weak, even though the premise is solid), and his Bulletproof Mind DVDs are incredible (and at the $97 sale price are a great value - https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/bulletproof-mind/). It's amazing what you can pick-up speaking with a person like that.

I appreciate his ability to break complexities down into more simple elements without dumbing them down.

Exactly. He describes what to expect, explains the process of why something happens, describes ways to deal with it, and then reiterates why it is important to know that something like this could happen so you can be prepared to deal with it (and what could trigger the response). That was very enlightening. It's the complete opposite of dumbing down, and I appreciate that as well.

It reminds me of the saying, “The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend.” (Henri Bergson, a French philosopher that lived a century ago) By knowing something could happen, being able to label it, and then knowing how to deal with it is a lot better than just being caught by surprise and not knowing what to do next.
