$256 at Cabelas? That could be a box of .22 ammo.

He was just testing their security protocols - apparently they were pretty good!

It gets me that the lawyer is spending more time worrying about the part of asking for special treatment than he is about the actual shoplifing part.

He wasn't doing on behalf of Christie. Nothing there would fit him.

As much as I despise Christie, I don't see this reflecting on him. I've hired several people in my career that chose to defile themselves in similar ways.

asking for special treatment may be more serious than the shoplifting part

"It was, more or less, 'Look, I've got a good job, I'm on the governor's security detail, I don't want to lose my job,' along those lines," McEllroy said.
Then he shouldn’t have tried shoplifting in the first place. What was that about stupid games?

Well, he was working for a politician now wasn't he. Untouchable mentality me thinks.

    So sad too bad.

    He had a good job.

He was on a security detail.

Now he knows what it's like to have his butt in a sling.
Firing a suppressed is on my Bucket List.

I'm just a spoke in the wheel but not a big deal.

It's probably along the lines of....asking for a break indicates that he knew he was shoplifting, a charge to which he is pleading innocent. If he didn't think he was shoplifting, there would be no reason to ask for a break.
