Dogs are angels. Too bad this could not have been handled better to prevent Mick's death. He gave his life to protect his partner.

I to hope the officer comes out of this ok. It's sad that the puppy had to die but he died doing his job.

I do not know if Oregon says that if you shoot a K9 it is the same as shooting a human officer but I think it should be and the perp should get max penalty and I will leave it there and if there are those that disagree that's ok but as a deputy I had a Shepard that rode with me, he died of natural causes but I understand how the officer feels.

Awsome police dog.. The finest kind.

Still it's a police dog. Not a police officer. Shooting a dog is NOT the same as shooting a person. A police dog is a tool. Not a personality. Police dogs are used in order that police officers can stay out of harms way.

I know... I love dogs too. They do have personalities, and they do give unconditional love. But in police work they are still a tool.

Too bad the police couldn't light up the getaway car.
Sounds as though they tried, but didn't connect.
