At least when it comes to quantity.

SF-86 form is now 127 pages. Last time I had to do this... I don't really remember but I think it was 20 or 30 pages, maybe? Perhaps I remember that wrong. I would have remembered if it was THAT many, though.

I guess standard forms can experience inflation too.

If you have an idea on how to reduce the paperwork all you need to do is submit your idea, in triplicate, to DHS.

When the government is envolved there is no such thing as a "standard form" every one is over the top, over rated, over hyped, too long, too detailed, and too nosey.

If it were not for paperwork just imagine how many people would be out of work.

Yep. I would be one of them.

    This is kinda ridiculous, though.

Yep. One for the system. One for the fireproof safe. And, one in case there's a fire in the fireproof safe!

You obviously did not get the electronic memo. The paper reduction act of 1980 44 U.S.C. § 3501-3521 . Yes I am serious Paperwork Reduction Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

The problem is only you and I must abide by these stupid actc and code of federal regulations. The government continues to do what ever they want when ever they want.

For those of us who don't have a cushy government job what is an SF-86 form and what specific agency do you work for?

There are these things called "computers," so the need for physical documents should be obviated. At most, there shouldn't be more than a single page that you sign. In fact, that's kind of how the Florida CCW permit system works. You do most of it on screen and the paper file is just a page or two.

That old story doesn't hold much water. The trees used in most paper are grown like crops, planted, reaped, and replanted, just like corn.

I just upgraded to TS and the SF-86 was all online.
