    Question Starbucks

I just received an email from my son's baseball coach attaching an email supposedly from a Marine in Iraq. The email stated that the Marines had asked Starbucks to send them coffee and Starbucks refused because it didn't support the war. I generally don't pay much attention to these types of emails but if this is true, I won't buy from Starbucks. Has anyone else heard of this and does anyone know if it is true?

There was another email that came out saying this was false and that Starbucks does a lot to support the troops. They listed all that they do.

Yep, its old. It was probably a ploy by a Starbucks employee who got the can. I worked at one for 4 years - 3 as a manager. I remembered hearing this for the first time while I worked there. I knew it was bogus because we were actually organizing a huge coffee drive to send to a hospital ship in the Gulf. The company actually had instructions posted on its internal network on how to organize coffee drives and who we could contact within the DoD for shipping addresses.

For those concerned, customers and employees shipped <250 pounds of coffee and I think it was about a dozen grinders.

REALLY! 6 bucks for a friggin' cup of coffee? Hell...I can buy 2 pounds of Cain's coffee for that. Besides, I had a cup of Star*ucks coffee once...tasted burnt to me.

Starbucks is an image thing...kinda like Escalades and expensive cigars. I drive a Chevy truck and smoke cheap Black & Milds or Swisher Sweets!

Hyperbole. Starbucks coffee prices are from 1.40 - 1.70 here, depending on size. At the very upper end of the scale are the frozen drinks @ 4.75 for the largest size.

To each his or her own.

This is one of those things that seems to pop up a couple times a year with almost predictability. Guess someone just likes to pick on Starbucks!

    Why would I want to?

Because for $1.74 I can get a pretty good size cup of good coffee that is twice as strong as what you can get elsewhere (sorta like 2 for the price of 1).

I have actually become addicted to their stronger brews. Don't generally go for the fancy stuff, though.
