First enlistment sea duty spent with the USMC (1st Tank Bn, 1st MarDiv). Looking back, those were the best years I spent in the military right there.
Second enlistment was all shore duty... or s'posed to be. Found myself on a rapid deployment surgical team. We deployed. Floated around on the dang USS Saipan for a while... long enough to sour me. When that enlistment was up I took my ball and went home.

I hear ya on that. Part of me understood the way they thought (instill discipline, etc.), but I still can't shake the fact that some of that crap was just practically POINTLESS. LOL - you weren't stationed at Marine Barracks Washington, were you? That kind of stuff is taken to the EXTREME, and I unfortunately spent two of my four years there.
Either way, I wouldn't have traded a single moment of my Marine Corps career for the world, and I'm ultimately a better man for it.

A person is justified in the use of deadly force, if such person reasonably believes deadly force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to such person or a third person.

Come now, have you ever met a Marine without an opinion or without something to say about anything?
I have a bumper sticker that says "Retired Opinionated Marine"
My wife says it is redundant.
Freedom is not free, but the U.S. Marine Corps will pay most of your share.
