I was recruited by the Marines when I fought in the Golden Gloves in 1949. I failed the physical (bad knee) so I tried the Army and their quota was full. The Air Force was expanding so they took me. I was the only one of 35 without a high school diploma. I finished high school and attended college in the AF and eventually received two degrees after my retirement. Had I went in the Marines or Army I might not have survived the Korean and Vietnam wars. I shoot in IDPA with a Kimber 1911 .45.
