Officer Anthony Holly was shot and killed during a traffic stop.
Officer Holly had responded as backup to another officer who had stopped a vehicle with three occupants. They had taken one suspect out of the vehicle and were removing a second suspect when he produced a handgun from his waistband and fired at the officers, striking Officer Holly.
The other officer returned fire, wounding the shooter, who was later captured and taken into custody. The third occupant was also taken into custody. Officer Holly was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix where he was pronounced dead.
Officer Holly was a 2 year veteran of the Glendale Police Department and a veteran of the Iraq war as a member of the U. S. Air Force. He is survived by his girlfriend, parents, four brothers, and a sister.

My prayers go out to this VERY YOUNG officer's family and friends. 24...God...it's so sad to see an officer...ANY officer lose his life, but a YOUNG officer is such a terrible thing.
Go and rest young man...I've got the shift.

Oh crap - another good guy down Hard to find the words. Yes, 24 - and only starting his LE career.
Yet again it serves to help us realize the possibilities for danger with traffic stops.

Always sad news to here of something like this. I always try to thank my local LEO for being out there; we had a local LEO murdered not that long ago.

I hope the dirtbag(s) who did this (friends too)...cook slowly!
