FL armed felon puts himself in jail

COCOA, Fla. -- A Brevard County man sealed his own fate by actually videotaping himself with a gun and even singing about it. It turned out he was a convicted felon who wasn't supposed to have a gun.
The Cocoa man was sentenced to 18 years in prison after investigators found that tape, in which he also bragged about how many people he had shot.
All investigators had was the recording on a DVD and that was all they needed to put away a man who was going around playing with a semi-automatic handgun like it was a trophy.

Bravo Mr. Alvarado. Bravo!
It's not every fledgling actor whose first video lands him an 18 year contract, with room and board included.

Blame it on Sixto - now that is a viable plan.

I'm wondering who he annoyed to get bounced to a Federal court.
Gotta say, I like the outcome.

Who said criminals aren't stupid this is the type of person that needs to be locked up and never let out. The federal people should keep him for a long time.

My preference is for when their stupidity gets them killed.
The best criminal is not an incarcerated criminal. That's when he's learning how to do it better. No, the best criminal is a dead one.

Even better, dead criminals don't cost very much to deal with. Incarcerated ones cost us tens of thousands of dollars per year.

Because Alvarado was convicted and sentenced in federal court and will be going to federal prison, he won't get out and won't be making any home movies until the entire 18 years are served.
Too bad he didn't have a AD while licking the gun
The video tape was discovered after another car was ditched following a high-speed chase in Cocoa. Investigators
recognized Alvarado, a convicted felon who was just released from prison a month earlier and was forbidden from being in possession of a firearm.
LE must have had a personal relationship with guy.

I'd guess it's the federal Felon in Possession charge...shooting (or assaulting by threatening to shoot) someone isn't generally a federal offense unless it's on fed property, extraterritorial or maritime jurisdiction, or the person you shot worked for the Fed.
