I remember when this was first reported. What a mess. Police went to the wrong house. Crawled through an open window. Opened fire on the owner and his dog, killing the dog and wounding the owner. One cop was shot, probably by one of the other cops.
I bet this generated some policy and training reviews.
In 2006, Atlanta police officers killed a 92-year-old woman during a botched drug raid at her house
In this one they planted drugs to try to CYA Some of those cops are now in Prison
Police seem trigger happy in Ga. 1970 I was with a bunch of people . We were in middle of no where Ga . Yes we were street racing , But no one was doing any racing .When GA state patrol come charging in from 2 directions. People started running They jumped from their cruisers and started shooting . Not in air but pistols pointed at people. .
We were escorted in convoy to court house. Judge came and bail was $150 . We went to court all of us together and no state officers showed up Money returned . Seems Son of commander of a state barracks and son of assistant Chief of Police of near by town . Were part of the group. Think maybe that played a part in our not Guilty by the judge. .
I was stationed at Ft Stewart in Hinesville Ga. when this happened . We were next county over Long county if I remember the county name.
Article says they entered through an unlocked rear door and later says that particular home had been broken into before. Why would you leave your back door unlocked? You never know what kind of unwanted pests might come wandering on in.
Maybe the lock was still broken from the last time.
