Heard about this from USM. Looks like suicide by cop to me. The crook saved South Carolina a lot of money but its never a desired outcome for the LE who had to do it.
In the news story the suspect was said to have been inside the Lewis drug store. Investigators were pondering why would the suspect enter a drug store?
Golly gee whiz before the internet I went to a *drug store* frequently to purchase candy bars cassette tapes french fries and a Coke
band aids and assorted first aid components and batteries. All manner of needful things. It may be news to some but other than the pharmacists counter (usually) in the back a typical drug store carries a few thousand other products besides drugs.
I've got a U.S. Marshal friend on their "Dangerous Felon" squad. I believe that's generally what they're PAID to do. They like their job & I'm damn glad they DO it! :congrats:
To my in-laws, this is the sort of the that only happens in the "big city" (like Denver Metro), not idyllic Sioux Falls. Their farm is about 8 miles away...
