Yeah, I just saw that on a Bing alert. So sad. Once again police officers being targeted for assassination. This time by a home grown bad guy who apparently just hates cops. RIP Officer Tom. Our prayers to the family.
Yes, it is. Death penalty prosecutions here are sometimes to expensive for small jurisdictions, so even cop killers don't necessarily see it pursued. The suspect here is already a five-time loser with a long history of violence, so time will tell.
Some years ago, an illegal murdered a Marion County deputy who tried to render assistance. The killer didn't even catch a life without parole sentence: Fallen deputy honored a decade after death
Local news is reporting that the suspect's sister warned his parole officer last week that he was doing drugs and had guns. No comment today from the office. This is gonna get even uglier.
from bad to worse. Sorry Mike. the very worst part about this is that even if he does get a death penalty conviction, it'll be decades before the deed is actually done.... and all the while, or during his life sentence, or even just a few decades if it's that bad....
...this guy will be some sort of a local hero in the prison....won't he?
R.I.P. this story really turns my stomach. Nuff said for the time being.
