The FBI performed 2,523,265 firearms-related background checks between March 1 and March 31, according to the agency’s records. That’s a new record for the month. It’s nearly 35,000 more checks than the previous record set in March 2014.
Many Americans (I for one) believe our government is no longer able or simply doesn't have the will to protect us here in the homeland. Some even believe that in liberal Democratic circles our leaders (sic) may actually believe that a certain amount of terrorism is to be expected before we can win over our adversaries "hearts & minds" and thereby stop the aggression. They see the global war of terror as one of political and not religious radical ideology and believe that we are in part responsible for the "reaction". This is typical of the egalitarian approach to any problems that do not fit the current "agenda"....simply ignore the problems and pretend they will go away.
Some world leaders felt this approach would work in 1938. Unfortunately, we know what really happened.
Liberals and media pundits can be counted on to say that this increase in firearms sales is born out of "fear".......not really....more out of preparation.

That's the trouble. I "fear" the domestic politicians more than I do foreign governments of terrorists. I believe MANY people are stocking up because they fear a liberal US government that would like nothing more than to forbid private citizens from any form of firearm ownership. Same thing happened just before Obama was elected.
God help the country if we get an administration like NY's governor Cuomo. We'll all be allowed to have a gun in our own home, grudgingly, but no ammunition can be manufactured or sold. Or we'll have a hazardous substance tax of $5/bullet. Some end-around nonsense to limit our availability to firearms.
Alan Gottlieb, who founded the pro-gun Second Amendment Foundation, said the political rhetoric combined with recent acts of terror and economic uncertainty have driven gun sales. “These ongoing new monthly records reflect the concerns Americans have about crime, terrorism, economic turmoil and the political class gun prohibition attempts to disarm them,” he said.”They are voting with their checkbooks and buying more firearms and ammunition.” ... “People have a real fear about where we are headed.”
I have joined the club of too many guns to "tote". I buy them because I like them and still can. Bill Clinton collects bimbos. Hussein Obama collects hate mail. I collect guns. (Well, actually, I collect 1911s. Other guns are mere tools.)
Actually, I am encouraged even the sleeping masses are beginning to awake. I know most of the rest of my extended family certainly is coming out of their passive slumber.
This can't be so. I read on yahoo news where all the big gun makers sales were in decline. You think the Yahoo news story might have been a fabrication? From a well-respected entity such as Yahoo? Surely not. Anyway I'm doing my part, still buying guns and ammo.
You are not taking into consideration that in today's world and its lack of common sense, most believe that business is 'down' when they have not met forecasts or some other arbitrary value. And with the media beating their own drum it is unlikely that we the general public ever hear the 'facts' only "SPIN".
I've actually had this feeling before. Jimmy Carter was in the White House, Iran was holding Americans hostage, the Cold War was in full effect, and we were constantly bombarded on the news about the big, bad Soviet Union.
One term with Ronald Reagan was all it took to make that feeling go away.
And for the 88th month in a row Mr. Barack Obama is the salesman of the month and also salesman of the year for a record 7th time and counting:35:. Never before has one man so dominated the competition. His prize will be an assault rifle of his choice furnished by the same government agency that brought you fast and furious.:aargh4:
And these numbers will continue to climb as we approach November. And (God forbid) should Hitlery win the election, the highest number per month up to November will look tiny in comparison to December's numbers. EVERYTHING gun-related will disappear off the shelves.
Also rememebr how much room a 4473 has on it ..So we could be talking 2-10 etc guns a pop here ...Never mind states that count a CCW as a NCIC check or PPT sales
People are seeing whats going on and what might happen in Nov so the are bracing for the worst

Do these record breaking numbers include those who lost their new purchases in
a boating accident?
Gun Purchases =.............2.5 million
Guns in home =..............0
