Just saw a video of some idiot in Palestine, TX, who was escorted out of a restaurant by two armed police officers. The dude turns and tries to pull a gun on the officers. The close officer pushes him away, draws his weapon and puts 9 rounds in the suspect... errr... idiot while the second officer reholsters her taser, pulls her sidearm and adds three rounds. It turned out the dude pulled an Airsoft gun that looked like a 1911. It was ruled justifiable. How can anyone be that totally stupid to do something like that. I will add this much, sometimes you just don't have time to weight all the options before reacting.....
Oh boy, here we go again, "he was a good boy, a very good boy". They had no right to shoot him. If they did, they should have aimed for his little left toe.
Apparently he had stolen some alcohol from Walmart (Surprise!!!! nobody steals from Wally World)... Then some of the employees were at the restaurant and recognized him and called the authorities... They probably weren't expecting him to be seemingly armed...
Watching that video, if one of those officers was my loved one, I wouldn't care if they pumped 100 rounds into him as long as they could come home safe
Saw the video of this incident a few months ago. How can someone be that stupid? Simple, take a look at the news media and see all the reports on officer involved shootings. Now guess how many officers have hesitated because of all the bad press and law suits not to mention the outside agitators like Sharpton and the other liars like him. It is not difficult to convince some that a cop will not fire and might not even draw their weapon. They believe that they can scare an officer to the point where they can go free. It is a lesson that has to be learned the hard way. Unfortunately for some it is the last lesson they learn.
One would also hope that there is still some part of that HUMAN police officer who knows that she may be ending someone's life when that trigger is pulled.
A thing that separates us from the criminals, and that can cost us our lives.
When I did my training, we did several video scenarios. Stuff can happen really, really fast which doesn't leave much time to weigh the pros and cons.... That's the scary part....
I had a gun pulled on me by a drunk years ago before I started carrying. It was a very scary moment and I'm lucky to be alive. Now if it happens, my only hope is that I'm fast enough to save my own life and that I will not stop shooting until that threat is no longer a threat..
Why wasn't he cuffed and checked for weapons in the bath room . Then no one would have need to shoot any one. Fake gun woud been found and he would be in hand cuffs.
I'm going to ask my brother in law who's a sheriff's deputy and my father/mother in law who are retired deputy's about this scenario. From my point of view the suspect was wanted for questioning about a simple theft, was white (like that should matter nowadays but we've all read the headlines) and wasn't being combative at the moment. So I'm figuring the police weren't exactly on high alert dealing with this guy. After watching that video things can turn from routine to deadly in seconds.
