'Va Tech shooter bought magazines from Ebay'

    http://apnews.myway.com/article/20070421/D8OL9JRO0.html

The Virginia Tech killer went to eBay to buy ammunition clips for one of the types of guns he used in the rampage, a spokesman for the auction site confirmed Saturday.

Using the handle Blazers5505, Seung-Hui Cho bought two 10-round magazines for the Walther P22 - one of two handguns used in the massacre of 32 people. The clips were bought March 22 from a gun shop in Idaho.

"It's apparent that he purchased the empty magazine clips," eBay spokesman Hani Durzy said. "They're similar to what could be purchased in any sporting goods store around the country."
So....any body want to guess how long it takes Ebay to STOP allowing sales of magazines? (you already can't sell any with a capacity higher than 10 rounds) (They also don't allow pictures of real firearms in any ads as well.)

Cho also sold several books with violent themes, tickets to Hokies football games, and a graphics calculator that contained several games.......

....Cho's eBay feeback rating from other users was superb - 98.5 percent.....

several books were listed for sale under the screen name "blazers5505."

They include "Men, Women, and Chainsaws" by Carol J. Clover, a book that explores gender in the modern horror film; the publisher's note reads: "Do the pleasures of horror movies really begin and end in sadism?"

Others include "The Best of H.P. Lovecraft: Bloodcurdling Tales of Horror and the Macabre," by H.P. Lovecraft; and "The Female of the Species: Tales of Mystery and Suspense" by Joyce Carol Oates - a book in which the publisher writes: "In these and other gripping and disturbing tales, women are confronted by the evil around them and surprised by the evil they find within themselves."

Books by those three authors were taught in his Contemporary Horror class, meaning he could have been merely selling the used books at the end of the semester.......

H.P. Lovecraft died in 1937 so I don't know how "contemporary" he might be. I place him alongside Poe.

    PS: Glock Clips?

We know EBay is not the most gun friendly place anyways... I bet they are reeling and crying about being guilty by association. I predict lots of gun-related auctions to be cancelled soon.

Well, heck this story is about as stupid as it gets (other than calling magazines clips). Why does it matter where he bought the magazines? Most of us order parts on-line or in a catalogue because the local gun store can't afford the over head. So I suppose they are going to try to close our favorite haunts because of this monster.

I guess I need to get another magazine order ready

I brought it up for two reasons:
    1) The media has been hyping 'high capacity magazines'.
    2) The kind of classes that are being 'taught' on campus, like this 'Contemporary Horror class'. (whatever happened to the the three Rs?....Reading wRiting & aRithmetic.)

Plus, Ebay has gotten pretty anti-gun.....They no longer allow you to sell something like a holster when the ad includes a picture of a real firearm. They also no longer allow ANY ...........(I hate to use the term ass**** ri***) AR15 or other military style rifle parts or accessories. They also no longer allow ANY magazine sales with greater than 10 rounds.

    Firearms, Weapons and Knives

Since many firearm-related items, gun parts, gun accessories, paintball equipment and accessories, stun guns, crossbows, airsoft equipment and accessories, hand weapons and throwing knives are not permitted on eBay, sellers must carefully review the ‘Some Examples’ section below before listing these items and adhere to all the policies outlined.

Furthermore, because of the varied international laws related to the sale of these items, those that are permitted may only be sold on eBay U.S under the following two conditions.

The item is sold by sellers who are located in United States and

The item location is also in the United States.

Note: US sellers must offer only domestic shipping on these products, since offering global shipping will make the product available in countries where these items are prohibited.

Weapons listed on eBay U.S. must comply with the California Penal Code covering the sale of weapons. Otherwise, these items are not permitted on eBay.

    Firearm Parts and Accessories:
    Prohibited

eBay prohibits members from listing firearms, including antique, collectible, and sport & hunting firearms as well as ammunition. This includes, but is not limited to:

Assault weapon-related parts or accessories. This prohibition applies to all parts and accessories related to any firearm defined as an "assault weapon" by federal or California law. For more details on assault weapons, please visit http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/awlist.htm and http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/awguide/awguide.php.

Firearm receivers or frames, whether complete receivers and frames, components and parts of receivers and frames, or "cut" or "80%" receivers.

Parts or accessories prohibited for sale by federal or California law, including items related to short-barreled shotguns or short-barreled rifles, fully automatic weapons, large-capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators and camouflaging firearm containers.

Any of the following firearms-related items: silencers, converters (items that can be used to give a firearm automatic capability), kits that can be used to create a firearm, potato guns and cannons, flares, flare launchers, flare guns, flare gun receivers, short barrels and any illegal firearm-related items.

Please note that any photos in a listing (including stock photos) must also abide by our Firearms, Weapons and Knives policy. If a prohibited item is included in a photograph for a non-prohibited item, the listing may be ended.

    Permitted

All other legal gun parts and accessories, including, but not limited to, trigger guards, firing pins, barrels, stocks, butt plates, trigger assemblies, pistol grips, holsters and scopes. Listings for such items must clearly state the type of firearm for which the part or accessory is designed. If this information is not provided, the listing may be ended.

BB Guns, Replicas, Blank Guns and Imitation Guns
    Prohibited

BB guns, air guns, black powder guns or muzzle-loader guns

Listings that use the term “BB gun” in the item title or description of any listing for an airsoft or replica gun.

    Permitted

Paintball guns, "airsoft" guns*, pellet guns, replica, "look-alike," and imitation firearms under certain circumstances. These items:

Must have clear markings permanently affixed to them (commonly blaze orange markings on the barrel or a blaze orange plug inserted into the barrel)

Must not be readily convertible to shoot a lethal projectile

Must be located in the U.S. and the seller must be located in the U.S.

These rules apply to all items designed to look like firearms, including replicas/imitation guns of any age, as well as toy and cap guns.

Note: Most states require that purchasers of airsoft guns be 18 years of age or older.

Sorry, I didn't mean it to come accross like I meant anything against anyone here. I'm getting tired of how the anti's are exploiting this and trying to show how "evil" those that sold anything to him "are."

I caught the clips thing too. Stopped caring what they said or thought after that.

I did wonder why ebay didn't have any good magazines listed. Paypal is also known to cancel your account if you buy gun related items using their services. So I've been told.

I guess he gets an A in that class. I would a few other comment about him but don't want to be banned.

By the way when we had our nutbar shoot up Dawson, our firearm disscusion site automatically blocked part of his name, partly to prevent web crawlers, but also to ensure he gets less aknowledgement than his victims.

I've bought a lot of gun stuff using Paypal and never had a problem from them. Is this something new since the VT shootings?

Actually a feedback rating of 98.5 is really not that great.

I just did a bidder and seller search for Blazers5505 and that exact name according to Ebay does not exist.

So either Ebay has removed it and turned him into a non-person or somebody got his Ebay name wrong.

Looks like he picked the topic for his next paper. Pretty good choice, from that viewpoint.

It appears they have removed his info. I looked it up on the day I started this thread.....it was there then, with the exception of the one listing that had already been removed by Ebay. Don't know what that item was, but it was probably firearm related....the seller's other items are mostly firearm related....I don't want to place any blame on the seller, I mentioned his ebay name in the first post.

I remember looking at his history when the story came out. He bought two 10-round Walther P22 mags. There did seem to be one other item number on his recent feedback page that was invalid. I don't know what that was.

Interesting... One particular seller on a non-firearm related item on his feedback page had a message on his/her eBay store page about being harassed by people for selling him something. It was crazy.
