Shot his own foot with a shotgun? At that kind of range, Hopefully he still has a foot!

Depending on how bad that foot injury is he may not be able to continue on as a LEO.

I went through EMT class with an ex-Navy guy who's got some hearing loss after another sailor did the same thing as they were searching an Iraqi cargo vessel in the Persian Gulf. About 15 of the Iraqi crew and 2 other US sailors in a small, all steel room with only one door. The guy with the twitchy booger-hook was just inside the door. Most of his foot was gone so he got a quick evac to Kuwait, then Germany. Navy career = over.

Well, like every other gunshot injury...even with a 12 Shotty it's possible that he could just lose a toe or two if he just got lucky and only clipped himself.
At that range it might as well have been a slug so hopefully he didn't send it wailing right through the center of his foot.
The human foot is anatomically a very complex area of the body - bone and structure wise.
A shotgun blast can do a lot of serious damage there.

I'd like to see a follow up on this one like the rest of you. If it was just clipped or if he center-massed it and is down to one now. :( Sux. I guess he could look at it this way. He had a "slip" and hit himself. He could have had this same "slip" dragging it across a fellow recruit's head level on accident and, BANG! Atleast no one was killed. God Bless.

man that rough. Hope he's ok and will be able to recover. Saw a COPS episode with an officer sporting one of the springy running prosthetics. He ran a guy down no problem.

Anybody ever hear anything else about this guy? Does he still have a foot? Disabled and unable to work in LE anymore? Back on the job?
