    Quote from a Wash D.C. gun buyback/amnesty

Another DC gun amnesty buyback again this weekend apparently. I just caught it on Fox5 news about 4 minutes ago. I've got a lovely quote for y'all. As soon as I heard the words coming out of his mouth I grabbed the pen off the nightstand and started writing. I just knew it was going to be a good one. I don't know what his name was, but it was a DC LEO they were interviewing after he finished talking about all the different types of guns turned in (160+in the first few hours supposedly). Anywho here's the quote:

Err uh ...apply duct tape to head here first....

"and as you well know any gun on the street causes mayhem and disorder"
I'm hoping they throw that story up on their site so I can snag the transcripts and find out what the guys name and rank was. Would be nice to send him an informative/educational letter.
"My God David, We're a Civilized society."

"Sure, As long as the machines are workin' and you can call 911. But you take those things away, you throw people in the dark, and you scare the crap out of them; no more rules...You'll see how primitive they can get."

There is something called, a ''sweeping statement'' - otherwise known as "tunnel vision", ''painting with too broad of a brush".

The ''getting guns off streets'' is so, so old - and still seems a favorite - it only needs qualified by one word, to make at least some sense - "criminal" guns. Then it might have some value.

Disarming the good guys is NOT the way to get guns off the streets to prevent 'mayhem'.

Wait...I thought laws on the books in DC state that there is no ownership of firearms by civilian non police citizens _unless_ they were registered during the second of two registry activities dating back to 1970.

160 thirty seven year old and older guns off the street, wow great job DC!

Oh, and how about that crime victimization rating and the death toll?!

    Cool

Sounds like a place to be to do some FTF buys (of course if FTF is legal there).

Oh oh oh!!!! This is so timely! Just last night, on the 6pm news out of a TV station in Asheville North Carolina (ABC affiliate). I kid you not....

Comment from the LEO running the Gun buy back program in town that day....

"It was a great success, we took 200 guns off the street and thats 200 more guns not out there committing crimes".

Can you believe it?!!?!?!?! You cannot make this stuff up.

What a crass, hyped up, pathetic uninformed, crazy statement - and from LE too Once again - the inanimate gun is the wrong-doer -- not the user, sheesh.

Yeah right, like all 200 guns were handed in by BG's - I don't think so!!! More likely some upstanding but sheep oriented honest folks, thinking misguidedly they are doing something to help control armed crime. Poor folks.

They usually get very few serviceable guns in their feel good gun buy back scams. Then they refuse to run any gun serial numbers through NCIS. What a way to go!!!

Has anybody considered that, since the police will buy back ANY gun no questions asked, all gun bu backs do is CREATE a market for illegal guns. It is MUCH safer to steal a gun and sell it in a buy back program than it ever is to attempt to sell it on the street. I think these progarms CAUSE guns to be stolen!!!!!

We all need to help the Gov't be more streamlined, so why not combine the gun buy-back with the free needle program. Maybe they could give out 2 dozen needles with each gun turned in. Ya, I think that would work.

You should run for office, if the Republicans don't support you for streamlining government, the Democrats will support you for inclusiveness

DC had a " buyback " ?? Just when did the city start selling guns ? They must have at some point if they are now buying them back
