We all should take a minute to.....

Think of our Military Brothers and Sisters that will not be home for Christmas this year as they are fighting for our freedom and never forget the ones that gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.

I personally know 10 soldiers (family and friends) that have been deployed, some that are on there 3rd tour and volunteered for that. Only one of those 10 is home for Christmas this year and thankfully none have been lost.

The Corps was kind enough to let both me and my cousin (also a Marine) have leave during x-mas this year, its the first time we will see each other in 3 years or so. It will be good to drink beer and bs with him.

Thankfully unless deployed the Marines are big on getting people home for Christmas if they can. But a lot of my brothers and sisters didn't get to come back this year for it, and I wish they could.

    Thanks for the Reminder

I respect and salute them all...I do think of them all a lot, and I appreciate all that they do.

Good message Grant - an important one.

I think of them all often and know how much so many will be aching inside being apart from those dear to them. Then too the families trying to enjoy a Christmas time with the knowledge that a son or daughter is never coming home.

SouthWest airlines just donated a flight home for 150 of our service people for Christmas who are to be shipped out to Iraq in JAN. These brave people had a last minute notice to go and no funds to go home, so Southwest stepped up! AWESOME!

Do you have a link to this? Not that I don't believe you but want to verify before I send my thanks to them if this is the case. I think it is awesome that they would do that.

I talked with my family member soldier that made it back for Christmas tonight. He is 20 and I could tell things over there changed him, he was quite and reserved and for the first time in my life I wasn't real sure what to say or ask. Someone did ask him how it was over there and he said in a slow, low type voice, "it was pretty brutal". Nothing more was said or had to be said. He did smile and carry on with us and that was nice to see. We were just glad he was back for Christmas. He is here for another week I believe and then he is going to training for a Special Forces, Green Beret and pretty sure I heard he is going to fort Bragg for training over everybody talking.

I will get to catch up with him once more before he leaves and confirm the details but I am pretty damn proud of the kid. At 20 I was to busy chasing tail, skipping classes and finding the next party or bar we were all meeting at without a single care or worry in the world.........

On several instances Southwest Airlines has done things like this for us. While I've never personally been the recipient of their kindness I've seen them go above and beyond for guys in my AMU when they get back from the sandbox.

Thanks for the reminder Ti! We all take so much for granted in this fine country. Our freedoms and way of life were't given to us... they were earned. Let's remember all of those that helped us get to this point. Let's also salute those that help to keep it this way! Merry Christmas guys... and thank you.
