We hear all the time that automatic weapons were used in this crime & that crime. Almost all turn out that no such weapon was used.......
Other than the North Hollywood shootout in Feb 1997. Have there been ANY crimes committed with fully automatics? (other than St Valentine's massacre in the 1930s)
I think this falls into the category of urban legend.

Trouble is - anything that ''they'' deem deserving of the name ''assault'' - must for them by default be a ''machine gun''
In more recent years I do not recall any other crime involving real FA - N Hollywood is all can think of too. Gotta go back to prohibition era with Mr Thompson to find the frequent use.

Wasn't one of the shootings in Miami or Tampa earlier this year committed by someone with a FA rifle? or was that just poor reporting?

The auto-gun ban derived because of the 1930's Chicago mobsters. Nothing recent that I can think of tho.

I couldn't name them, but most of the ones I remember were on TV. I always think California when I hear things like this---well, okay---Texas and the Waco thing too.
I always like to see the Thompson machine gun in movies though.

Nothing in the Miami area that I heard of and I follow news down here pretty closely.

Don't recall that one. Do you remember anything specific?

Waco?!
That wasn't an attack, the FBI said so on loudspeakers as they drove tanks into the building.
You must be thinking of something else.

goawayfarm, I can not find anything on it. maybe someone here remembers seeing it on "The Forensic Files"
All I can remember was that a man was outside of the gates and when agents were coming into work, this man came out of the woods and opened fire. he came across a woman I believe and let her live. I think the agents were specifically targeted. I dont understand why I cant find it on google. This is just as bad as the time I was watching TV and the screen went fuzzy, next thing I see was a view out a window and hearing someone say watch the field. next thing you know an army tank appears from nowhere. Then the screen went fuzzy and went back to the original program. I tried googling it, but all I ever came up with was a few things about the military working on some kind of cloaking device involving a series of cameras. I know I was not going crazy because my wife saw it too. Cant find anyone who saw it, cant find anything on the net about it

* N. Hollywood, CA as noted
* Waco, TX
When the FBI attempted to breech their second floor window and gassed it, they received in return FA fire from inside the building.
* Some cop in IIRC FL decided to run a suicide by cop scenario and in the process used a FA rifle which was assigned to him for duty purposes.
* The SLA shootout with the LA police involved automatic weapons IIRC my history correctly. When was that like '74 or '75?
The above are all that I can recall in modern post Jimmy Cagney times.

The Bonny and Clyde pair preferred BAR's.
Even though one of the most famous photo's of them had her holding a Thompson, they wouldn't use them - "not powerful enough."
Imagine - she was almost 100 lbs, barely over 5ft tall, quite feminine in mannerisms, and better able to manage a BAR (sawed down so she could hold it up) than the federal agents that were after them!
OOOHH! Hot Babe!
Stay safe,

Apparently you haven't heard that S. Florida is being over-run by full-auto AK47's. The sole reason for this is that the past few do-nothing congresses have failed to re-authorize the Assault Weapons Ban.
Wait, let me check my sources on that............Yep, just as I thought. Nevermind.

Lets be careful, lest you-know-who point out that banning full autos worked so therefore banning handguns will as well.
