The only people who should have Veterans Day off are veterans. Banks, post offices, and of all things, schools should all be open. Veterans should be allowed the day off to sit around a bar and swap stories.
Now how would that look, the whole military in a bar at the same time.

Active duty has to stay at their post and on the job. We "veterans" get to kick back and remember the good old days of our service and hoist a toast to those stepping in to fill the gaps we left behind....God Bless 'Em and God Bless America!

Guess I'll be the dissenting vote here. I take a bit of pride in the fact that because of Veterans, a heck of a lot of people get a day off. So much of everyday freedoms is just taken for granted without the slightest hint as to why that is possible. Veteran's Day is just one small but dynamic reminder to them! SALUTE !!

Ain't no one getting out of this world alive. All you can do is try to have some choice in the way you go. Prepare yourself (and your affairs), and when your number is up, die on your feet fighting rather than on your knees. And make the SOBs pay dearly."
