Veterans Roll Call

Grew up as a military brat with my dad serving in the Army and the Air Force. Got out of high school in '66 and joined the Marines. Did my boot camp at San Diego and my infantry training at Camp Pendleton. Went to Vietnam in '67 and was stationed at Giolinh with 2nd battalion 9th Marines. Shortly after arriving I was given a 30 minute class and became a radio man ( guarantee I did not volunteer for that). I lasted aboout three months before I got shot up in an ambush. Spent the next 30 days on the USS Sanctuary then was flown back to the States and spent the next 7 months at Great Lakes Naval Base in the hospital..Marine Corps medically retired me at age 20. That was some 43 years ago.
I enjoy guns ( from the trigger end) and have a Sig 2340 pistol. A Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle from 1941 . An SKS from Yugoslavia that looks like a new rifle and my plinker Mossburg 795.

I medically retired last year from wounds sustained in the battle for sadr city in march 2008. I was apart of 1/2 SCR Aco

I was art of a Stryker BCT. My experiences are EFP Blast and multiple firefights. Just trying to get over this PTSD crap but I think its here to stay. Loving being home with my kids. In college trying to get a associates degree. Still looking for a job thank god I got retirement. Just bought a kahr cm9 few days ago never shot it. I see all this bad magncrap about kahr, but I know it's mostly operator error, you must know your equipment and how to PROPERLY USE IT. Kahr is for advanced shooters in my opinion. Anybody can pick up a glock in five minutes know how to improperly but successfully operate it.
You didn't learn how to drive in a Ferrari, you learned in a used car that anyone could drive. Train train train like you fight.

Spent 35 years as an Army pilot - RETIRED - got tired of being retired - Now as Hill AFB working the DEPOT program for the F-16 (back around aviation - anyway)

USMC infantry (0311), though I was carried a m249 for 4 years so I consider myself a machinegunner (0331)

Iraq twice, Ramadi, Al Asad.

US Navy 1967-1993. USS Kitty Hawk CV63, USS JFK CV67, USS Sumter LST1181, USS A.W. Radford DD968. Been around the world several times but mostly in the Med. Didn't like the west coast much although I would have liked to have made it to Sydney. I served in the aviation branch of the navy through 1975 then as a firecontrol technician through 93. I loved the navy and wish I could go back.

I ETS'ed in Germany and got a Civilian Job in DCSOPS @ USAREUR HG @ Campbell Barracks in Heidelberg 86-88.

USMC, 3 years. 2008-2011. 2676 Pashto Linguist. Got out as LCpl due to a back injury. I miss it everyday, and would go back in a heartbeat if I could.

US Coast Guard 1989 - 2011
Primarily small boat operations in Search & Rescue, Law Enforcement, and Aids to Navigation.
7.5 years of sea time on ships from 82 - 378 feet and a tour at CG Headquarters in DC before retiring as a Master Chief Maritime Enforcement Specialist (E9).

You are busy! No wonder why only 19 posts in 7 years. For myself SFC is a reality. Army 11 years, promoted after 9 with 3 cool MOS's. Been out since 2008 as required by my spouse and family. Since then completed my masters and am happily employed (and still happily married). I miss it many days.....I will say I am VERY impressed with the amount of servicemen here and a poll showing how many there really are would be great. After all we are all an American team no matter what branch or specialty we served. Some knew what to expect when drafted and most knew what to expect when we volunteered!
