LAUREL, Md. (AP) - Police in Maryland say an officer has died after being hit and dragged by a pickup truck that was reported stolen.
Prince Georges County police say Corporal Richard Findley was monitoring the truck Friday morning when several men returned to the vehicle. They rammed Findley's cruiser during an attempted traffic stop, then hit the officer when he got out of his cruiser.
Findley was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. He was a 10-year veteran of the police department.
Police say they believe Findley fired shots during the incident, but it's unclear whether anyone was hit.
Obviously they don't have the perpetrators in custody yet. RIP, Corporal Findley. Prayers of comfort for family and friends, and hopes that the perpetrators are apprehended quickly!
