    ASSOCIATED PRESS • July 9, 2008

FORT LAUDERDALE — The wife of Fort Lauderdale’s police chief is behind bars after allegedly firing a gun during a fight with her husband.

Plantation police say 45-year-old Eleanor Adderley was arrested Wednesday morning after her husband, Chief Frank Adderley, called officers to report a domestic dispute.

Police say Chief Adderley was not injured.

Chief Adderley said in a statement that he supports his wife and will help her “get whatever assistance she needs.”

Eleanor Adderley was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting a missile into a dwelling. She is being held without bail at the Broward County jail.

Her attorney, Robert Buschel, issued a statement calling the incident “a private family matter” and urging restraint by the news media.
And only LEO are qualified to have and use firearms?

    Hmmm...

Seems to me once you try to kill the Chief of Police It is no longer a family matter It becomes criminal, wonder if drinking had anything to do with it

A rural deputy once remarked that if it wasn't for alcohol, he wouldn't have a job.

A sad situation. The lady obviously has a serious mental health problem, and her husband wants to get her the help she needs. Let's leave it alone.
