One of my clients that has a donut shop/restaurant gives LEO's meals at a discount. When the come in for lunch or whenever, they get what they want full meal, and I think he charges them a flat 2 bucks. BTW there is usually one or two patrol cars in the lot pretty much every day. That is the owners descision to do it.
When he opened a second location right across the street from the PD/Courthouse etc, he was not able to extend the same policy at that location. It would have closed quicker than it did.
On a funny note to this. One day when at the counter, a local Housing Authority Security person (no gun or badge, just a decaled shirt) came in made his full order and pulled out 2 bucks. The gal behind the counter said that will be 5 dollars and some change, the guy looked puzzled, and said I thought security got it for 2 bucks. She said, ah, no that would be for LEO's, well apparently the guy only had 2 bucks, but I haven't seen him back at the place.
Apparently word had gotten around about the LEO discount, but somewhere it must have gotten messed up when passed down the line.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Our officers and civilian employees are by policy prohibited from taking any kind of discounts. Of course that policy is not enforced to my knowledge. There are several restaurants in each district that are known for giving discounts. Most officers don't abuse it, but we have one guy that would come in off duty with his family and expect the whole meal to be "on the program" as they call it.

I hope he's the one that screamed at me a few years ago. Or maybe one of the motorcycle cops there that all seem to have a chip on their shoulder.

I think alot more of this goes on unreported than we will ever know, cops out of control.
Thank goodness in this case starbucks had the courage to report it and the local agency had someone good doing their job. He should be charged with extortion to send a message that just because you're a cop doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, they must obey all laws just like anyone else!!

Yea, they should back charge him for all the coffee over the years.Can't blame him for trying, do you know how much six trips to Starbucks in one day would cost!!!!

Thats one heck of a coffee bill! I once worked with a guy, who bought himself a starbucks $200 gift card to figure out how much money he spends there, by the end of one work week, it was gone. He goes there before work, during lunch, and after work on the way home,...ridiculous.
