Deputy gunned down in robbery attempt
Jackson County, MS deputy Fred Gaston, on his way to D. C. for Air Force reserve stint (Lt. Colonel), was shot to death in a Gastonia, NC hotel parking lot last Saturday night. He apparently walked out to his car to retreive a few things when he was accosted and shot by a 17 year old (with a previous felony conviction) and a 16 year old.
A long time LEO, he had previously served as interim chief in Moss Point, MS before taking a job a few weeks ago with the Sheriff's office.
He leaves behind a wife and two children.

RIP, and may justice prevail on the dirtbags.
Gun control can be blamed in part for allowing 9/11 to happen.

Had the 17 year old felon's previous penalty for his crime been horrible enough, perhaps he would have chosen not to continue with his career in crime. He might even have become a decent citizen, and a good man would still be alive.

Anytime a lawman loses his life on the job it's a tragedy to his family, his police family and the community he worked in.If you don't think so look at all the monuments scattered through out America honoring the fallen officers.
RIP.
