Watching TV right now. Every single piece of luggage from the plane is in the tarmac and police dog is going over it. Whoever brought "colombian sugar" or "oregano" must be sweating bullets right now.

Uh Oh.... Politics has started to rear its nose in this situation.

With negative undertones from reporters and reporteretts:

"This incident happening just after the 9/11 Comission gave its report card..."

(Talking to a representative of Homeland Security)
"We were told by a security expert that the Marshall Service shoots to kill and not to give a warning shot. Why?"

"Witnesses say that they heard three shots. Was it necessary?"

Wouldn't shooting inside the plane create caos? Are the Marshalls trained to control passengers in cases like this?"

    Cool

I can hear it all now that this fellow was mentally challenged and should not have been shot. I guess TSA will set up psychological screening of passengers next to make sure only us sane ones get shot by the marshals.

Jeep... that is EXACTLY the hints I've been hearing when they refer to the guy. It will get worse. The guy was US citizen from Latino extraction so I am willing to bet that somebody is gonna use the race card soon.

Yep, so it seems. Now we have a reporter saying that TWO federal Marshalls shot upwards of 10 rounds according to witnesses. Then again who knows? I saw passengers that had just found out that something had happened in their plane. And another actually complained that how was it possible for somebody to get in the plane with a gun and threaten people

I think the airline was giving away the booze

Bout Damn Time they took action!
Maybe these jerks might think twice before making or attempting to follow through with threats or actions...I applaud the Marshals! God bless em all for helping to keep all of us a bit safer while we're on board. Now.....what was that guy shot with? 9mm? 357 Sig? 40? or 45?

Bottom line is you say you have a bomb, you reach in your bag, you are dead!! No questions, don't care if your travel mate says you have a mental problem, just can't take the risk of not killing you and having dozens of others die!

The board of inquiry ought to take about 5 minutes if anyone has any sense.

    Class,

I've heard a rumor that the FAMs are armed with .357Sigs...

so... I'm gonna guess that was it.

    Air Marshalls incident

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051208/...plane_shooting

Unfortunate about the problems the guy they shot had but I see no other way to have handled it under the circumstances.

If it had been a real bomb & they had hesitated then Kaboom!
They did what they had to do. If they'd hesitated then real terrorists would learn how to behave in a manner to get the same hesitation and plan their goal's around this.

IIRC the FAMs use a SIG 229 in .357 SIG, as does most of the Homeland Security agencies.
