San Diego police kill gun-brandishing man, 64 - Los Angeles Times
Police say the man fired into the home of a sheriff's deputy. Officers called to the scene shot him when he emerged from his own house with a gun.
SAN DIEGO -- A 64-year-old man was shot and killed Friday night during a confrontation with police that began when he fired several shots into the home of a sheriff's deputy, authorities said.
The incident began when a man banged on the door of a home in the Lake Murray neighborhood and demanded to know if the resident was a police officer, according to San Diego Police Lt. Terry McManus.
He then argued with the sheriff's deputy who owns the home, allegedly brandishing a handgun. The off-duty deputy then slammed the door and the man fired three shots into the home, police said.
Police responding to a 911 call about shots being fired surrounded the home of the alleged shooter, identified as Joseph Giordano, and attempted to persuade him to surrender. A half-hour later he emerged, carrying a gun that he pointed at officers, McManus said. Six officers fired at Giordano, fatally wounding him, McManus said.
The names of the sheriff's deputy and the officers involved were not immediately released.

Bullets are much cheaper than trials. Go San Diego pd!
A 9mm might expand but a .45 will never shrink enough to fit 17 in the magazine.
