I ride with the Patriot Guard in as many missions as I can. Nothing is more touching than to honor a fallen troop by escorting and standing by his final mission. Most don't realize how the Patriot Guard was started. I'm not going to get into the dirt of it, but there's a church in Kansas that would actually protest at veterans' funerals, and started doing it all over the country. We stand by quietly to protect the sanctity of the grieving family.

Man, my eyes got a bit moist on that one.

Unfortunately I have to see those scumbag protesters quite regularly around here.

    Thanks for the post.

The Phelps are pure filth. I find the PG an elegant solution to a problem that should not exist.

Bless those who bless the families of the fallen! Just once I'd like to see someone from that "church" make a wrong and threatening move while protesting a funeral, just once!

So do they...the family is full of lawyers that just love to file lawsuits. One of the reasons the PGR formed was a peaceful buffer (they actually turn their backs on the protesters...who even bring their kids.

Then I'll never be able to stand with the PGR, ever. I just don't think I could have the restraint to stand there and watch a fallen brother or sister, and their families, treated that way without doing something very foolish. I am getting misty, and pissed, just thinking about the crap they spew all over the grave site.

I carried a buddy to his final resting place in Ohio. We had the Patriot Guard there aswell.

To be honest with you, I don't think that any body would have protested this one. We were there for a week and the whole town was basically shut down from the time we arrived with Keith until the time that we departed back to Ft Bragg. Keith had about 500 people a day at his viewings and close to 1500 for his funeral and burial.

Not to mention the 50-75 Paratroopers from Bragg that came there to pay final respects.

Bless the Patriot Guards for doing what their doing.

The Phelps are pretty much inbred and that's all I will say on that matter, and if they ever walked in front of my vehicle my foot would accidently hit the gas when I tried to brake
