    FOUR Officers down

The aftermath of the crash which claimed the lives of four police officers has shown how a standard Northern ireland Safety Measure, may have been partly responsible for the death of the 4 officers.

Their vehicle crashed and burst into flames on the Warrenpoint to Rostrevor Road as they were answering an emergency officer assistance call at about 4 A.M GMT on Sunday.

The Northern Ireland police Service have long been the target of Terrorists and have used heavily armoured vehicles for a number of years.

An investigation is under way into the crash, but witnesses who tried to save the officers have said that they could not break open the blast resistant windows of the 4 X 4 vehicle and the armoured doors were deformed as a result of the crash, when the vehicles fuel tank exploded

The policeman have been named locally as:

    Officer Declan Greene,
    Officer Kenny Irvine,
    Officer Kevin Gorman
    Officer James Magee

RIP to LEO's on the other side of the pond. That which was meant to protect them served to prevent their rescue, it is a very bad catch 22.

The thin blue line is now a little thinner. Rest officers, you have earned it. Don't worry, the rest of us are willing.

    Condolences to the families.

There are lots of ways that LEO's can die in the line of duty, and there is probably nothing more frustrating than being unable to help somebody because of a situation beyond your control,I hate to say it but someday our LEO's may be patrolling in armored vehicles if the country keeps spiraling downward
