What NOT to do when arrested

A while back I seen an article that listed things to do and not to do if you are ever arrested by the police, either innocent or guilty. Anybody seen this or something like this.

And I may have put this in the wrong forum

The main thing is do not talk to the police in a SD situation, tell them you will answer their ?s as soon as you have a lawyer present,You may say something that is taken out of context that may come back to bite you in court. The miranda says anything you say can and will be used against you in court.A lot of people think if they answer the policemans ?'s they won't get arrested and that may or may not be the case

Good manners and listening skills help. I understand that LEOs in general do not like having to repeat themselves. ;)

You could get arrested by being in the wrong place at the wrong time and be entirely innocent. Maybe not you though!!!

I would post a comment but as I know there are LEO's on this site, I wish to speak to my attorney.

    But seriously, interesting video.

Having been in court rooms (not a lawyer) numerous times as part of my investigative job for the Court, I have heard officers who wanted to "make their case".... distort things dramatically into things the person never said, and I and others who were present during the events... having to testify as to how "mis-stated their statements were".

In some situations, the conversations were recorded without anyone else knowing it, and the tapes showed the "exaggerations, flavor, interpretations, etc. " that were added by others.

It all depends upon their agenda. Some LEO's are extremely good at remembering exactly what is said, don't try to interpret or interject, and can state what was said perfectly. Others add a lot of "flavor". That's not just true of LEO's, but ALL people.

Personally, I want it "recorded" with my attorney present .... get a recording, then there is no doubt about what is said... but only after your attorney gets there.

+ 1 on recording. Request a lawyer and DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ELSE. Particularly if you are 100% innocent or involved in a Self Defense shooting.

That's great to hear. I am preparing for my first volunteer assistance in CCW teaching and was intending to provide this video as supplemental material. I'm now more confident in including it in my class.
