    Today's Military Female Cheerleader

A story with a happy ending!
This nineteen-year-old ex-cheerleader (now an Air Force Security Forces Sniper) was watching a road that led to a NATO military base when she observed a man digging by the road. She engaged the target (I.e., she shot him). Turned out he was a bomb maker for the Taliban and he was burying an IED that was to be detonated when a US patrol walked by 30 minutes later. It would have certainly killed and wounded several soldiers.

The interesting fact of this story is the shot was measured at 725 yards. She shot him as he was bent over burying the bomb. The shot went through his butt and into the bomb which detonated; he was blown to pieces. The Air Force made a motivational poster of her:

(Folks, that's a shot 25 yards longer than seven football fields.)
Or four tenths of a mile.

If you hear about it in an email, especially if it is forwarded (and forwarded and forwarded) chances are it is mostly if not completely BS.

Snopes.com is too good a site not to bookmark.

Friends don't let friends forward email.

    Even without Snopes...think about it?

If he was shot through the butt into a bomb that then exploded...just how would the autopsy determine shot placement?
There wouldn't be enough pieces left make a butt.

Wow that girl has one heckuva resume (according to Snopes), I am old enough to be her dad and I can't claim so many achievements.

Field work in a previous incarnation tells me that a good spotter for the shooter would have observed the shot placement.

I do not understand the mentality that makes up stories like this. That said, as bogus stories go, this one made me smile.

Personally I think the real story is better than the email story. At least Snopes didn't ruin this one. Hell of a woman....

Her real life story is darn good, better than the "myth" IMHO.

BTW: I just found a new Wallpaper for my desktop.
