3 most important items for a soldier
trying to finish up getting my gear together for a 2 weeks field problem i have coming up and i realized something. all a soldier really needs to be sleep well in the field is three things.
a poncho
a poncho liner
and the knowledge to use them properly.
just wondering what other schools of thought there are on the subject.

Thats a start.
You need food,water and shelter.
The poncho and liner can be the shelter.
You need water or a way to filter what you can find,
and you will eventually need food.

For the Air National Guard deploying for their two weeks it's:
1. Cable
2. AC
3. Maid Service
The above 3 are not a joke, BTW. I saw it firsthand.

dry socks, poncho, poncho liner. all other items (i.e. rifle,ammo,food) uncle sam will make sure that you got it.

knife

Isn't everything "needed" provided for field exercise???? Atleast in the Seabees it was. So my list was easy..
1. PLENTY of smokes
2. Lighters/matches
3. fresh socks
Supply provided everything else.....
