trying to finish up getting my gear together for a 2 weeks field problem i have coming up and i realized something. all a soldier really needs to be sleep well in the field is three things.
    a poncho
    a poncho liner
and the knowledge to use them properly.

just wondering what other schools of thought there are on the subject.

    Thats a start.

    You need food,water and shelter.

The poncho and liner can be the shelter.
You need water or a way to filter what you can find,
and you will eventually need food.

For the Air National Guard deploying for their two weeks it's:
    1. Cable
    2. AC
    3. Maid Service

The above 3 are not a joke, BTW. I saw it firsthand.

Isn't everything "needed" provided for field exercise???? Atleast in the Seabees it was. So my list was easy..
    1. PLENTY of smokes
    2. Lighters/matches
    3. fresh socks

    Supply provided everything else.....

    I'm thinking you need:

    1. A good man on your left
    2. A good man no your right
    3. Plenty of ammo for you all
