Police Academy Orientation Yesterday!

I attended the Police Academy orientation yesterday at WTI (Withlacoochee Technical Institute) Inverness FL. I ordered my uniforms and learned a little about the class and whats going to go on. The class is 10 months long and starts july 20th, it will end the end of May 2010. I am super exited and can't wait to start and finish the course. Unfortunately i can't afford to be a full time student so i will be going to work then straight to school, my social life will officially come to an end when this class starts but i know it's all going to pay off in the end. Well i will keep you all updated on how the class is going and what not...wish me luck.

don't worry about the social life, your life will change and you won't want to do some of the things you do now
besides.....that makes you study harder

If you graduate and become a LEO, avoid the Badge Bunnies.

The badge will get you the bunnies, but it only takes one bunny to get your badge.

One word of caution: you're going to get classes on what the law is. Keep in mind that those classes are summaries, usually taught by people who are not attorneys (I hope yours are different in that respect), and give you a really quick tour of what you need to know to be a cop. At the end of all that, be aware that you don't know what you don't know. Cops hate me giving people this advice, because of the "them v. us" mindset, but I suggest that the best thing you can do is to talk to some of the best criminal defense attorneys (buy them lunch) in the area in which you plan to work, and ask them what the big things are that you should know, but were too ignorant to ask about during training.
