Just scheduled a ride along with Lakewood PD

I'm stoked. Just set an appt to ride with an officer on the 4th of July. The lady in charge of ride alongs gave me an option between what she called "Lots of action" or "drive time". I told her I wanted whatever would give me a good overall experience of the job (I'm thinking about applying for the force in September when they start recruiting again). She actually recommended the 4th because she said it would be a good idea of what a "hectic day" would be like!

    I'm so excited!

I have been on a Citizen Ride with a friend of mine in FL who is a LEO.

Definitely an eye-opening experience. Hope it is a safe ride for you.

Good luck, I'm sure the 4th of July will be a busy time in most departments, lots of partying and fireworks tend to keep them busy.

Well, I'll ask the obvious question... can you take your CCW along?

I just moved to CO and haven't applied for the CO permit yet. The funds a slightly lacking now. I was going to ask them, but figured it was a moot point since I couldn't carry anyways! Certainly, I don't think OCing into a police station and the ride along would be appreciated...

Enjoy! My ride alongs were all fun - even though we never really got into anything crazy. But still lots of fun!

I would love to do that, Pcon... is this something just for recruits? Can anyone call up the PD and ask to ride along?

Yeah, they'll think you are Gecko45 and you just watched all the Death Wish films last nite...

In Ohio, you cannot carry in a Police Department. Anybody can ride with your department. Just need to fill out the proper paperwork and go.

Although, when I have had people ride with me, I always tell them on what the status of the shotgun and soon to be rifle is.
